The Full Moon in Taurus is happening on the 4th of November 2017, at 6:23 AM CET (-1:00).
We are having a powerful Full Moon, which, even though silent and still, has all the strength and creative power from the Sun and Jupiter in Scorpio on her: the insurmountable, eternal and indescribable force coming from the depths of nature. What is there? Let us welcome the Full Moon.
“Most people have (with the help of conventions) turned their solutions toward what is easy and toward the easiest side of the easy; but it is clear that we must trust in what is difficult; everything alive trusts in it, everything in Nature grows and defends itself any way it can and is spontaneously itself, tries to be itself at all costs and against all opposition. We know little, but that we must trust in what is difficult is a certainty that will never abandon us; it is good to be solitary, for solitude is difficult; that something is difficult must be one more reason for us to do it.
It is also good to love: because love is difficult. For one human being to love another human being: that is perhaps the most difficult task that has been entrusted to us, the ultimate task, the final test and proof, the work for which all other work is merely preparation”.
Letters to a Young Poet – Rainer Maria Rilke
A powerful Moon. She is in Taurus, and opposes the light from the Sun (and the almighty Jupiter) in Scorpio. As we see in every Full Moon, there is the polarisation of the yin and yang, the light and darkness, the masculine and the feminine, the active and the passive principle. This Full Moon brings to light that which has been obscured; and it brings back to its core that which has been outside in the social-active world. Balance.
When the Moon is in the sign of Taurus, it is said she is exalted, which means that she is actually showing the best expression of her full creative quality. The Moon in Taurus is a calming Moon, which suggests coming to terms with ourselves, with the notion we have about our own worth and potential, or to put it simple: to reconcile with our own selves. She brings gentle compassion to where there was guilt, patience to where there was restlessness, and grounding to where there was turmoil (see the end of this article for herbs and oils for this Moon time).
As a matter of fact, she is receiving the light of the Sun together with Jupiter in Scorpio, so the power reflected by this Moon is tremendous, and it has to do with our capacity to appreciate our surroundings, our nature, ourselves and others. This appreciation comes back to us as a positive alertness enabling us to become real and to perform real and effective actions very linked with our own desires/goals and with our full unique potential.
The Sabian Symbol for the Moon’s degree, 12° Taurus, says:
A young couple window-shopping.
To which Rudhyar* adds: “The fascination of the youthful ego with the products of its culture”, “the socialisation of desires”.
This signifies the balance of the two qualities in the couple: the yin and the yang, and the merge between attributes and desires coming from each person. Taurus is traditionally an inward sign, but with the light from the Sun and Jupiter in Scorpio, it consolidates together with the other person or with the other part. By “window-shopping” we see that the two parts enjoy the desires and tastes of the other in a full social and active environment.
In other words, this Moon suggests us to make peace with our own selves, so that we can truly enjoy the merge with another person (or thing, or activity, or passion). Nothing can be truly good if we don’t learn to appreciate: ourselves and our environment.
Think about Nature. Taurus rules Nature. Now think about this: Do you really love yourself? If you do, have you ever thought that Nature is you! Nature is your home, your birth, your death and it is where you will be reborn. It is what makes you, sustains, destroys you and remakes you forever. Have you ever come to assimilate how powerful this notion is? Appreciation requires full grounding and full awareness.
The Moon and the Sun are also forming relaxed aspects with Neptune in Pisces and with Pluto in Capricorn. While the Sun in Scorpio time can sometimes bring deep stuff and serious periods of crises and difficulties, these situations are indeed necessary, on that there is something that we have not learned or incorporated within us. And while crises themselves are not funny, keep on mind that something good will come out of it, one of these things being wisdom itself.
Nature is powerful, Nature is all. Nature soothes us and brings us comfort. Learn to appreciate what surrounds you. Learn to appreciate what is inside you. Once you truly trust, you will have won.
