The first New Moon of 2018. It is happening the 17th of January 2018 at 3:18 AM (CET +1:00), or the 16th of January at 9:18 PM (EST -5:00), in 26° Capricorn 55’.
This intensity. We all have felt it. This year has started with strong intensity, manifested through different ways in each of our lives. We began with this powerful conjunction of Jupiter and Mars in Scorpio, which is still active. In addition, with the ingress of Saturn in Capricorn, we have also felt the strong pressure from life responsibilities (work, payments, duties, taxes, stress, dissatisfaction, etc.)
So, with a New Moon in Capricorn? Hmm, a quite interesting way to begin the Lunations of 2018. Let us dive into the symbolism! But first, let us welcome the New Moon in Capricorn.
Life is like the darkness
So what we see in this special configuration is the power of Capricorn in all its splendour: Saturn, Mercury, Pluto, the Sun, the Moon and Venus. And more: Jupiter and Mars still conjoined in Scorpio, but forming a sextile towards the Sun/Moon/Pluto. This sextile changes the tone of this configuration: the possibility to transform ourselves.
The Lunation itself occurs with a conjunction in the last decanate of Capricorn, in square to Uranus in Aries. The feeling of responsibility and duty is taking us over. It can be very overwhelming when we add difficult economic situations, or when the job is just feeling pretty bad lately. Issues at home, issues with the boss, issues with the government and the whole structure of the external authority. It can all be too much. And it can be a difficult way to begin this year.
The last decanate of Capricorn takes the colour of Virgo, so we feel pressured in work, which in return makes us feel inclined to work even harder. And don’t be surprised, we might feel responsible for so many things in the present moment. In some cases, we might feel guilty or blame ourselves when something goes wrong.
With Venus there, the difficulty to express what we feel or what is worrying us can be even greater. Silencing, suppressing worries, burying thoughts, not sharing what is taking over our minds.
But this situation is just the surface or the crust of a whole lot of transformative opportunity.
Let us remember that life has its own ways, its own tides and its own flow. This is not constant. The seed-lesson carried with this Lunation is that of perseverance. If we come, and we take all the positive traits of what Capricorn is, we will find the possibility of a much greater and stronger person in us.
We must go through the way as life presents it to us. In this time, our mind should get a little more practical and more down to Earth. We must act calm, but we must engage our brains to find a way out of whatever we might be going through: a solution.
Sometimes this solution is a simple change of attitude, or a different way of approaching towards life, or a new mindset. Sometimes this solution requires more practical thinking. Sometimes this solution requires a little more analysis. But figuring out the solution, most of the times, is quite simple. The main “ingredient” is determination to find a solution.
When we are solidly determined towards something, nothing can stop us.
Taking this further, the opportunity to transform an obsolete mindset, a crystallised point of view, or non-useful thought-feeling patterns is there! Jupiter/Mars is in trine with this Lunation. We can changewhat is not working anymore for us. But we need determination. We need to fixate our objectives solidly on the ground of our heads, of our hearts. We need structure, indeed. And some planning.
Does this all sound a little too pushy? Capricorn prefers the hard way. Because the hard way is always redeeming. If this sounds too much for you, then ask yourself how much you want to change a negative situation in your life; ask yourself how much you want that specific goal.
When there is something in our lives to which we give a lot of importance, we tend to give it thought. We tend to give it some worry too. We give it more time from us; be it a problem or a goal. But whatever it is, it is definitely important! And if it is important, we will get it, change it or fix it! And yeah, working (hard) is a must.
Go through this dark Moon time with open eyes, with an open soul, with arms stretched out, and with trust. Make sure to feel grounded firmly on Earth. And feel that vortex within you, the vortex of determination and will. You will find the way out, you will find a solution. Fight the obstacles. Enjoy the ride.
