The New Moon in Pisces 2018 is happening the 17th of March at 2:12 PM (CET) or 8:12 AM (EST) at 26° Pisces 53’ just three days before the Vernal or Spring Equinox, the arrival of spring and life. (Not your time zone? Click here).

With the call to action from the past Full Moon in Virgo, which was during a time charged with mental activity directed towards progress, now we begin a new cycle, a new Lunation*.
The New Moon in Pisces is a time to slow down the rhythm of activity, to quiet the mind and to focus in in the awareness of unity with existence. A time to renew ourselves from within, because the miracle of life’s rebirth is about to come.
And even though we do not see the Moon this day, she is there, silently reawakening. She feels soft and kind, and with her, all the warming life-force is intensely building up, ready to grow and burst later in Aries. And so, this is a time to experience the softness and kindness from the last degrees of Pisces. With ourselves and with the universe.
Let us briefly navigate through the symbolism of this Lunation. But first, let us welcome the New Moon.
I have thrown from me the whirling dance of mind
And stand now in the spirit’s silence free,
Timeless and deathless beyond creature-kind,
The centre of my own eternity.
I have escaped and the small self is dead;
I am immortal, alone, ineffable;
I have gone out from the universe I made,
And have grown nameless and immeasurable.
My mind is hushed in a wide and endless light,
My heart a solitude of delight and peace,
My sense unsnared by touch and sound and sight,
My body a point in white infinities.
I am the one Being’s sole immobile Bliss:
No one I am, I who am all that is.
Before going into the symbolism, it is important to note that this New Moon in Pisces marks the upcoming Vernal Equinox (or Spring Equinox), which happens the 20th of March 2018 with the ingress of the Sun into Aries. Therefore, the beginning of spring and the return of the life-force into physical manifestation. Aries, is the sign of the rise of the life-energy and the blooming of nature.
The New Moon, happening at the very end of Pisces reflects an important transition in the quality of our life-energy. By many, Pisces is called the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. Pisces is a very special sign in its nature, since it really encompasses all the whirls of emotional awareness and intuitive forces within us during the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one (Aries follows Pisces, and Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, being Pisces the last one).
The New Moon’s degree is 26° Pisces 53’ (rounded up to 27°), and the Sabian Symbol* for this degree reflects:
“The Harvest Moon illumines a clear autumnal sky”
I will deviate a little here.
Let us focus our attention in the fact that this New Moon in Pisces marks the beginning of the new life cycle at the Spring Equinox (Aries), and the opposite of Aries is Libra. Then Libra is the sign in which the opposite equinox falls in: the Autumnal Equinox (in the 25th of September 2018).
From a literary perspective, the Sabian Symbol of 27° Pisces depicts the “Harvest Full Moon in autumn” (which happens a few days after the Autumnal Equinox in the next half of the year). This is what might seem as a beautiful (opposite) coincidence, since we are now with a New Moon just before the Spring Equinox, and the symbol depicts a Full Moon just after the Autumnal Equinox. However, it is not a coincidence, but a deeper meaning.
To harvest is to enjoy the fulfilment of a well done work, as Dane Rudhyar said. The harvest is the realisation of something, its fulfilment, and its culmination.
Right now, we are transitioning into a new cycle, but before, we must harvest the treasures of the previous one. We’ve worked hard, we’ve been into all sorts of situations. Some hard situations, some difficult paths, obstacles and falls. But we’ve made it up until here. What have we accomplished? Which are our harvests?
With Jupiter retrograding in Scorpio in a beautiful trine with the Moon-Sun in Pisces, let’s consider our harvest within a deeper awareness level, the soul level. The soul is constantly learning as we go through the days of our present life. A year ago we began the current cycle with the Spring Equinox 2017. This cycle has taken us through different roads, each road with different surroundings, and special teachings. These teachings are our harvest.
In which ways have these teachings positively impacted our soul in its evolutionary development? When I use the world “development”, by no means I mean professional development nor scientific development, nor any sort of “mechanical” development. This development is the one of us as human beings with a soul pulsating the heart beats of Nature, of existence, of oneness, of consciousness. What have we learned that has made us feel emotionally fulfilled? That is what we must meditate upon during these days. Quietly and in peace. No need to rush, no need to accelerate, no need to look elsewhere.
The Moon is also applying to a square with Mars in the last degree of Sagittarius, before he enters into Capricorn.
What this represents are those conflicting dilemmas between surrendering to experience the natural stream of life and infinite love, versus the pre-set conditioning beliefs from society, inherited religion and close people. In addition, it represents the conflict between wanting to let go from rigidly conditioned life schemes, versus our attachment to those schemes. The conflict between the subjective versus the objective.
Nevertheless, there is a balancing agent between this square, and it is called intuition. This agent is the form of knowledge that is inherent to ourselves as human beings. The “system” makes us grow within a totally mechanic and rigid scheme of living, believing and behaving. Little has been left for us to embrace our natural wisdom. The wisdom that simply is! What makes us become aware of the fact that there is way much more beyond what seems to be. That the physical world is not just something we can perceive with our physical senses. But instead, the physical world is Nature herself, and it is the gateway towards experiencing life as a whole. Being one with nature.
Intuition makes us become aware of the energies around us. Sometimes not the best energies, but intuition makes us recognise them. And it also makes conscious of the pulsating life-force of Nature, beating together with our hearts.
Finally, this can be a very sensitive time. As we are exposed into different environments and different characters, our sensitivity to these environments might be very strong. In addition, there can also be physical sensitivities to foods, allergens, and invisible toxins. Just be aware of these dynamics if they happen, and try to identify the source.
Choose wisely your environments, as it is better to stay distant from negative places or people who make you feel unease (negativity). Once negativity hits on you, it is very easy to fall into easy escapist routes, victimisation and sorts of emotional chaos.
Try to take these days with ease. If you can, do peaceful meditation work, or journaling, or creative work, or visit natural magical places. Leave behind that incessant desire to post it all immediately on social media, as it disrupts the flow of this special personal work.
The main goal is to restore that normally-lost link with our core of essence of being and nature. And from this state of being we will be ready to feel the powerful stream of the life-force blooming with all its potency. The power of Aries.
