Cleansing of the mind and soul. Also of the body.
The Moon joins the Sun in Virgo, and they together form a trine with Pluto in Capricorn, and a sextile with Jupiter in Scorpio. Mercury in Virgo is also co-present with the Moon and the Sun. On the other hand, Venus has just entered in Scorpio and now is in opposition with Uranus in Taurus, and in square with Mars (this tension square gets fully active on the 11th of September as Mars ingresses in Aquarius). Saturn is also in harmony with a trine aspect with Uranus in Taurus. Saturn in Capricorn also turns direct, and action is coming.
So we see a lot of practical and earthy matters coming into play. Let us dive into the mixed symbolism. But first, let us welcome this Lunation with a poem that talks about change and our fear to the unknown (after all, Virgo is a transitional sign which prepares us for Libra and ultimately for Scorpio: the unknown).
Change is inevitable,
But yet we fight it, just the same.
Change is essential to our evolution.
Change is going to happen,
In fact, it happens every day,
Maybe it is too small to see, or perhaps we would rather not see it.
We fight change, because we fight the unknown,
We fight the unknown, because we are scared,
Scared of change, scared of the unknown.
If we were to allow change to happen freely,
We might find solutions to the problems that exist around us,
But instead, we are hung – up on controlling everything around us.
Maybe this is the problem with the world today.
Everyone assumes control of everything and does not allow nature to run her course.
Maybe this is why, we have devastating fall out from Nature,
Natural catastrophic disasters, such as fire and flooding.
Change is uncontrollable,
Change is inevitable,
Change is the unknown.
Nature takes pride in being one of life’s illusive wonders, the unknown.
Something that is important here is that the Moon-Sun are also in an opposition with Neptune in Pisces, and this placement gives all this reality-practical-financial-career-work-issues another colour, an emotional one. And this one is so powerful an intense that it can actually affect our overall performance and behaviour during these days, when we are feeling squeezed with mundane (but understandable) life worries.
Something that we should keep in mind (and perhaps be prepared) is that a lot of material from the subconscious might be pouring out in very peculiar ways. Some experiences, words, people or sudden unexpected circumstances can release strongly held memories from the past, charged with sensorial (smell, taste, vision, touch) depictions which can awaken strong feelings and fears that have never acknowledged. There can be regrets.
Looking at the The Sabian Symbol for this lunation’s degree displays:
“A volcanic eruption”
To which Rudhyar adds: “The explosive energy of long-repressed contents of the subconscious”; we can get a sense of what is going on. An explosion of trapped feelings, fears, deviated actions and regrets. However, this is one of those emblematic ways in which Virgo generates cleansing, purification, renewal and new energy recharge.
The Virgoan energy can bring such a deep cleansing. Sometimes not through the smoothest ways, but always through the necessary ways, so that we can learn, understand and identify that which needs to be removed, incorporated of transformed within us. And this cleanse is so vital in order to move forward, work hard (but authentically and genuinely), and bring a better version of who we are. And who we are is always evolving, shifting and transforming.
This goes also parallel to the mutation and transformation of the seasons and our landscapes. In some regions the cold is gone and the warmth is coming, in other regions the warmth is gone and the cold is coming. In some others, the rain or the dryness is changing the landscapes. Observe your surroundings and see what’s changed in the physical world. Then think what needs to change within you.
Topics that can arise include decisions we have taken, choices we have made, and paths we have taken in our own development through this life, both personal and professional. A lot of questioning!
With Mars and Venus in tension, there can also be tension in how we relate with people, how we feel appreciated or understood by the others and how our needs are being acknowledged and satisfied. These tensions can be with your significant other, with friends, family, but even more intense at the workplace. Keep things smooth and try to place yourself in the shoes of the others before jumping into strong opinions and judgements.
Other topics that might arise are our health and diets, and how we take care of our own wellbeing (physical, mental and at soul level). We might start to feel uncomfortable with some things and yearn for a change. Changing diet, changing exercise pattern or starting to exercise, setting new goals and changing old goals that perhaps were never reached. Perhaps were just lessons on the way.
Finding new ways to harness peace of mind and soul is crucial. New meditation or breathing techniques, new disciplines or new books. Some people find relief in yoga, but some other will cling into new horizons (perhaps dance, martial arts or a new sport), and this will bring them peace of mind and soul.
Whatever happens to you, it is vital that you use the Virgo analytic feature to understand the reasons why you feel in such ways. The source from those emotions or fears. A concrete identification of the sensitive point on that specific circumstance, and from then, work towards a resolution either through the release of the old, or its transformation, or the incorporation of new visions and attitudes into your life.
Don’t hesitate talking with people. There are always things we can learn from the simplest words coming from others. And the capacity to discern in between opinions and statements from others, and form our own conclusions is at the top during these days.
Let us make the best of this sort of cloudy time and use it as a preparation for the upcoming months. Let us hear the screams from our inner self, and help it reintegrate, rebalance and recharge with new fresh energy and visions of truth. Let us draw that version of ourselves we are seeking to master and become, knowing that the most great things in life often go along with hard work on the physical, but also on the inner emotional realm. And knowing that personal mutation is beautiful.
